A Great and Terrible Beauty

Gemma Doyle is living in Bombay, India in 1895, when her mother suddenly dies. Before her death, Gemma had a vision, a vision in which she foresees her mother's death.
Months later, Gemma is shipped off to Spence Academy for finishing school. There, she meets the quiet Ann, the selfish Pippa, and the troublemaker Felicity. They band together to create The Order, which was once a group of women going between the realms and the worlds. Unfortunately, the Rakshana, a group of men, wanted to stop and close the portals forever.
Gemma has the power to bring the rebirth of the real Order, and the secrets unravel one by one by one.
A Great and Terrible Beauty is set at the turn of the nineteenth century, where there was no equality between men and women, and where girls were supposed to wear corsets, petticoats, and ball gowns each and every day. This story is about a girl who turned her head the other direction.

Overall, I liked this book...a lot. Others may disagree, but I and firm on this opinion. First of all, I don't like scary stories. This book was kind of spooky, but it all balanced out with the action and drama. Second, it had power. It had a message. I personally think that the book was trying to say that you can't look down on girls, or people of a different race or class. I give it 5 stars.

P.S. Would this be a review for the Royalty Rules Reading Challenge? Because it does mention the royalty a LOT.

The Host

Hey all! The Host, by Stephenie Meyer is coming out on May 6! I can't wait to read it, cause, as you know, I am a Stephenie Meyer FAN!! I'm really excited, as you could tell.
Here's a summary from the Stephenie Meyer website (The link will go to the page of The Host):

The basic premise: The Host takes place after a bodysnatchers-style invasion of the earth. We (the humans) lost. Our narrator is Wanderer, one of the invading "souls," who struggles to navigate all the bewildering challenges that come with living inside a human body. She was forewarned about these challenges—the overwhelming emotions, the stunning physical responses, the glut of senses, the too vivid dreams and memories... However, there was one challenge Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body, human survivor Melanie Stryder, refuses to fade away into oblivion the way she should. Melanie lingers as an angry presence in Wanderer's head, holding on to her human secrets and filling Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, another human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for the man she's never met. Outside forces combine to make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, and, working together, they set off to search for the man they both love. It's possibly the first love triangle that only involves two bodies.

That's it, I guess, for right now.
Happy Saturday!
